Here with us for a year is Preston Passos our new Parish Intern Seminarian. As the seminarians of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles near the end of their seminary formation they are required to make one full year of Parish Internship, to learn, work, and be of service to the parish community at many different levels before becoming an ordained priest of the Archdiocese. This Pastoral Internship year has become an integral part of seminary formation over the past few years in order to train our seminarians for parish life after ordination. During this year he will be observed and evaluated by an Intern Advisory Board made up of different parishioners, staff members and the Pastor. Please welcome him to our great parish as we all take part in the formation of our future priests.

Preston is thirty-two years old and was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii and is an only child. He is of Hawaiian, Portuguese, Chinese, and Japanese descent. He moved to the mainland U.S. after joining the Society of Mary (Marianists) a teaching order of priests and brothers prominent in the Hawaiian Islands and throughout the U.S. Upon working and living among the people in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and through a period of discernment Preston decided to transfer to the Archdiocese entering St. John’s Seminary College in the year 2000. Upon completing the college program with a degree in Philosophy & Theology/Religious Studies in 2003, he entered St. John’s Major Seminary to complete his seminary formation for the priesthood the following school year. Now he is here with us to learn a bit of what the parish life has in store for him. May God bless him on his journey to priesthood and please remember to pray for more
